The Yogurt Betrayal

Not all yogurts are created equal—and Zara, Jay, and Veer are learning that firsthand.

In this week’s Zara + Omie comic, the trio is at the grocery store sniffing out the truth behind a suspiciously sweet “fruit yogurt.” Spoiler alert: it’s loaded with added sugars, dyes, and artificial flavors.

What’s the issue?
Many store-bought flavored yogurts—especially the ones marketed to kids—are more like pudding than probiotics. They may carry the yogurt label, but they’re missing the live cultures your gut actually trusts.

Here’s what to watch out for:
    •    Sugar bombs disguised as breakfast
    •    “Fruit” flavors that smell like candy
    •    Ingredient lists longer than your grocery list
    •    No mention of “live and active cultures”

What your gut truly needs:
🥄 Plain dahi or homemade yogurt
🥄 Unsweetened Greek yogurt
🥄 Yogurt with “live active cultures” clearly labeled
🥄 Add your own fruit or a drizzle of honey for sweetness

Your gut microbes are picky eaters and don’t fall for bubblegum-flavored tricks. Give them the real deal.
